Dear PS 199 Families,

 

It is with great pleasure and excitement that I write this letter of introduction as the new interim acting principal of PS 199. It is truly an honor to have been selected to join a community that emphasizes a culture of learning and where families are an important part of the process.

 

I come to you with 14 years of educational experience in District 24. During this time, I worked as a social studies teacher for 8 years at the Leonardo DaVinci Intermediate School I.S. 61. Most recently, I worked as an assistant principal at the Corona Arts & Sciences Academy (CASA), a new middle school in the district that I helped open. During my tenure at CASA, I supervised three departments (math, social studies, and special education), implemented an advisory program focused on providing students with social and emotional support and organized Parent-Teacher teams. Additionally, as the Building Response Team Leader, one of my responsibilities was to ensure the safety and security of all students and staff, a priority that will continue in my current role.

 

During the next coming weeks, I will be visiting classrooms to introduce myself to your children. Transitioning from one principal to another can be extremely difficult for all; however, it is my goal to ensure that our young children are least affected by this. In addition to introducing myself to your children, I will work closely with teachers to ensure that they have the necessary resources to provide the best education for children and to build a strong home-school connection. Rest assured that my door will always be open to listen and address any concerns that you may have. Together, we will prepare the students to accomplish anything that they strive for and more.
